RedBull Birdman Challenge

On July 20 2000 a group of 7 Birdmen flew in freefall from the Island Texel over the ± 4 km wide Marsdiep to the mainland Den Helder. Equiped with special designed suits with double layer wings the "skyflyers" were abe to get a forward speed in freefall about the same as the fallrate. This means that from a height of 5 km (and opening the parachutes at 1 km) roughly a distance of 4 km could be achieved.

Parashoot Productions (Henny Wiggers) filmed (Digital Video & stills) both the trainings jumps the day before and the actual jump of the crossing.
